How do I register for the conference?


Why should I register in advance?

  • Save money! Discount rates are only offered to those who register before the conference. The early bird discount rate expire July 30, 2013.



Can I register at the conference?

  • No. Registration includes two luncheons and one reception. Due to these meal events, it is necessary to register in advance. If you’d like to attend the conference, register now! 


I am not a member of the NAD; can I still attend the conference?


Is the conference appropriate for young children?

  • As much we are strong advocates of youth leadership, NAD Leadership Training Conference is best suited for individuals over the age of 18.


So, what’s happening at the NLTC 2013?

  • Take a look at the 2013 Conference schedule to see all that we have to offer! We have many resources available for NLTC 2013 registrants! Check back often for additions/changes to the schedule. We also add conference updates on Facebook and Twitter so please ‘Like’ NAD1880 on Facebook and follow @NADTweets on Twitter to get regular updates.
  • We also have three great evening events!

    * On Thursday, October 3rd, NLTC will open with a welcoming reception during which everyone will meet and get to know each other.  NAD President Chris Wagner and NeAD President Jonathan Scherling will greet everyone as we start our leadership training. The legendary Dr. Frank Turk will share his wisdom and experience from his decades of services to the NAD and the community. Renowned Linsay Darnall, Jr. will engage us with his folksy storytelling, and we will be well on our way to learning to defy expectations and achieve feats!

    * On Friday, October 4th, Nebraska Association of the Deaf (NeAD), Nebraska Deaf Heritage Museum & Cultural Center (NDHMCC), and the Nebraska-Iowa Jr. NAD chapter will host the exciting Nebraska Deaf Heritage Mixer & Tour to welcome us to their beloved city of Omaha, Nebraska. You can purchase your ticket(s) for the Nebraska Deaf Heritage Mixer & Tour, (which also includes a roundtrip bus transportation from the Hilton Omaha) here.  Admission fee is $15 per person and space is limited!  

    * On Saturday, October 5th, Come to NLTC Night Out at The Mattress Factory and wrap up this memorable weekend!  We will gather at The Old Mattress Factory Bar and Grill for a great evening of networking and camaraderie among conference attendees and presenters as well as the Omaha deaf community as we close out a thrilling conference!


What workshops will be offered?

  • We have a wonderful selection of presenters in the works! Keep checking back for updates on presenters!  Like we mentioned above, we give regular updates via NAD1880 on Facebook and @NADTweets on Twitter.  


Who is sponsoring the conference?

How can my organization/company become a sponsor?

  • You can contact us to collect more information to become a sponsor.


Can I earn Continuing Education Units (CEU) at the conference?

  • We will offer CEUs for interpreters, you can check the RID CEU page for more information. 


How do I make hotel reservations?

  • The official conference hotel is the Omaha Hilton. Reservations at the discounted rate must be made by September 10, 2013. Click here to reserve your hotel room at the Hilton Omaha.


Why should I stay at the conference hotel?

  • Workshop sessions, luncheons, and the reception are in the hotel.
  • For each room rented at the hotel, two people from the room get free breakfasts each day!
  • The NAD negotiates a special rate for conference attendees.
  • Attendees who stay in the hotel allow the NAD to pay less for meeting space, which makes registration rates lower.
  • Hilton Omaha is in the heart of downtown Omaha near the Old Market Entertainment District and seven minutes from the Eppley Airfield Airport.
  • Easier networking opportunities.
  • Save extra time from taking public transportation or walking.
  • Staying in the conference hotel makes it convenient for you to go to your room in between activities.


I have allergies or dietary restrictions, what can I do?

  • The NAD selects meals we hope everyone will enjoy. We realize that some individuals have dietary restrictions and food allergies. Attendees who notified us about food allergies or dietary restrictions that prevent them from eating the standard entree selection are provided with a vegetarian/vegan meal based as closely as possible on their specific dietary needs. The NAD will do its best to accommodate all dietary requests; however because the focus is on food allergies, we cannot always guarantee requests such as low-fat, low-salt, low-carb, sugar-free, etc. Alternate soups, salads or desserts also may not be available. Please contact us for special meal requests no later than September 15, 2013.


Can I use my government agency’s Purchase Order to register for the conference?


  • No, we cannot accept purchase orders because these typically take two to three months to process.


Are there any exceptions regarding Purchase Orders?


  • Yes, if you can provide us with approved credit card payment specifics. See also next Q/A below.


Can I pay out of my own pocket and have my company or organization reimburse me?


  • You can request authorization from your supervisor for conference travel and registration reimbursement, using our sample justification letter. This arrangement is between you and your employer.
