Hello again! The Senate recently introduced a version of the H.R. 3101 bill, and the Senate’s bill is called the "Equal Access to 21st Century Communications Act” (S. 3304).
Last Wednesday, May 26, Bobbie Beth Scoggins, President of the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), and Russell Harvard, a deaf actor, testified before the Senate Subcommittee on Communications, Technology and the Internet in support of the Senate bill.
Hi again! The April 15, 2010 visit to the Capitol Hill was very successful for the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) and its supporters. I have exciting news to share: two Republicans agreed to co-sponsor the Twenty-first Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2009, also called HR 3101! They are Rep. Parker Griffith (AL), a member of the Communications, Technology and the Internet Subcommittee, and Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (FL). Please be sure to thank them for their support! With the vital support of these Republicans along with the 44 Democratic co-sponsors, we hope Rep. Rick Boucher (VA) who currently is the chair of the subcommittee will finally decide that it is time to move the bill into the subcommittee.
Hi, my name is Leah Katz-Hernandez. I am excited to announce a national virtual NAD legislative day on Thursday, April 15, in support of the Twenty-first Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2009 (H.R. 3101). This new law, when passed, will benefit our community.
