Cochlear Implants
In October 2000, the NAD Board approved the NAD Position Statement on Cochlear Implants. This position statement may be of interest to parents of deaf children, deaf individuals, medical professionals, and the media. The position paper includes recommendations for professional training, early assessment of hearing aid benefit, cochlear implant team, habilitation, insurance coverage, media, research, parents, support services, and visual environment.
The January 2001 The NAD Broadcaster special issue included the complete text of the NAD Position Statement on Cochlear Implants, and several articles reflecting a range of informative and fascinating perspectives.
