OGG Breakfast Tuesday morning, July 3
Wake up to a great filling meal, energizing speaker and to choose a delegate to represent loyal NAD members on the Council of Representatives. So, what’s an OGG? People who have been NAD members for three or more consecutive years are recognized as part of the Order of Georges and Georgettes (OGG).
Opening Ceremony, Buffet, Baseball Game & Fireworks Tuesday evening, July 3
The opening ceremony of the 51st Biennial NAD Conference will take place on July 3rd 2012. Join us for a spectacular start to the week! Your registration will not only get you admission to the opening ceremony, but also a delicious all-you-can-eat ballgame buffet and a exciting baseball game. Also, we can't leave out a great way to end a great first evening on the third of July - Fireworks!
College Bowl Preliminary Wednesday afternoon, July 4
The College Bowl, a Biennial NAD Conference tradition, begins with the first-ever expanded competition with the preliminary competitions on Wednesday afternoon, July 4th. The Preliminary competition determine which colleges/Universities will compete in the College Bowl Final. Come cheer on your favorite schools as their brains are put to the test - and find out they were triumphantly correct or horribly wrong. Either way we will enjoy the moment, test our own knowledge, and there's always the next question!
Miss Deaf America Preliminaries Wednesday afternoon, July 4 and Thursday afternoon, July 5
The final Miss Deaf America Ambassador competition begins with the preliminary competitions Wednesday and Thursday in the afternoon. The preliminary competitions determine which contestants will complete in the 40th, and last-ever Miss Deaf America Finals. The young ladies, representing their home state associations of the deaf, will showcase their self-confidence and poise, demonstrate their talents, express their opinions and share their ambitions while competing for the title to become a role model and ambassador for the NAD.
Youth Luncheon Wednesday, July 4
Gather around the table on Saturday afternoon to enjoy a terrific program, and, while you eat, catch up with friends and meet and share yourself with new acquaintances. Celebrate our deaf and hard of hearing youth! Youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but the partners of today. Join this luncheon to support NAD youth participants who essential to the success of NAD organization and affliates today and tomorrow!
Kentucky Association of the Deaf Benefit Steamboat Cruise Wednesday evening, July 4
Join the Kentucky Association of the Deaf (KAD), a staunch supporter and affiliate of the NAD, for a journey back in time during dessert reception and entertainment on Wednesday evening, July 4th. We will cruise the majestic Ohio river, the major link between the bustling cities of the East Coast and the mighty Mississippi River, which was greatly instrumental in shaping the future of the city of Louisville. Don't miss out an opportunity to enjoy the views of the river, mingle and to watch the fireworks over the river when we celebrate the 4th of July together!
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Deaf Equality Luncheon Thursday, July 5
This luncheon is a new addition to NAD Biennial program, includes a great meal for members and supporters of the GLBT community as they unite on issues surrounding deaf and hard of hearing of this minority group. The NAD encourages its membership to support advocacy efforts toward equal rights of the deaf and hard of hearing GLBT population.
College Bowl Finals Thursday evening, July 5
Come cheer for your favorite team in a battle of knowledge and wit on Thursday evening. A Biennial NAD Conference tradition since 1988, the College Bowl brings together young, quick thinking deaf and hard of hearing college students for a spirited evening of academic competition. Teams vie for the coveted silver trophy and scholarships as the audience tries to guess the answers! The expanded format may bring new colleges and Universities to the finals, will the winner continue to be one of the legacy teams, Gallaudet University, National Technical Institute for the Deaf at the Rochester Institute of Technology, California State University at Northridge, or a surprising up-and-coming college or University?
Senior Citizens Luncheon Friday, July 6
This biennial favorite includes a luncheon, great camaraderie, and lively program for everyone! A tasty and joyous affair for all!
Miss Deaf America Finals/Live Auction Friday evening, July 6
The 40th, and last, Miss Deaf America Ambassador Program gives talented young deaf and hard of hearing women who passed the Preliminaries the opportunity to vie for the title of Miss Deaf America. The quest for the NAD Miss Deaf America title will challenge the young ladies to demonstrate their talents and accomplishments, respond to difficult questions, and share their dreams and goals. The winner will become a role model for deaf and hard of hearing youth and represent the NAD at events around the country. The Finals take place on Friday evening with a Live Auction. The Live Auction will offer exciting artwork tied to DeaFestival Kentucky, as well as other desired items, services, and opportunities, to raise funds that will benefit the tireless NAD advocacy efforts to defend our civil, human, and linguistic rights.
