The NAD is pleased to offer a Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) training workshop during the 2012 NAD Conference in Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday, July 5 & Friday, July 6 from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The workshop, led by Jimmy Beldon, will explore the Roles, Functions and Ethics of Deaf Interpreting at the Kentucky International Convention Center (KICC).
About the Instructor Jimmy Beldon is involved in the interpreting field on many levels. A nationally renowned interpreter educator, he currently teaches at the Interpreting Training program at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. As a Certified Deaf Interpreter, he is a popular trainer and presenter frequently providing CDI workshops, among other topics across the United States. At one point, he served as a Vice President for the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
Workshop Requirement Before taking this workshop, it is required that you read the book, "So You Want to Be an Interpreter: An Introduction to Sign Language Interpreting" by Janice Humphrey and Bob Alcorn.
Certificate Registrants will receive a certificate of completion for 8 hours of training on the RID Code of Professional Conduct and 8 hours of training on the roles and functions of a deaf interpreter.
