Celebrate 125 Years of NAD Advocacy Where It All Started
A celebration of 125 Years of National Association of the Deaf (NAD) advocacy will be held at a Tri-State Gala hosted by the Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio Associations of the Deaf on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at the Millennium Hotel in Cincinnati, Ohio. The NAD held is first convention in Cincinnati, Ohio in August 1880.

Mel Carter, a well-known deaf comedian will highlight the accomplishments of the NAD during its 125 years, from the first conference held in 1880 in Cincinnati up to this special evening, more than 125 years later in the same city.
The program will also include slideshows, an art auction featuring deaf artists, and a tribute to the late Elizabeth “Cookie” Williams, highlighting her life and her love for deaf arts.
"The NAD has achieved a lot since 1880 and our success rests on the shoulders of members and supporters - especially our State Association affiliates," said Andrew J. Lange, NAD President.
Tri-State Gala sponsors include: the Cincinnati Speech, Hearing and Deaf Center (Communication Services for the Deaf) state associations, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio along with the Knowledge Center on Deafness and the Kentucky Commission on the Deaf.
