NAD to Serve on FCC Panel on Broadband Accessibility
On Tuesday, October 20, 2009, the NAD will participate in an all-day Federal Communications Commission (FCC) workshop to further address broadband accessibility for people with disabilities as part of the development of a National Broadband Plan.
This FCC workshop will discuss accessibility and affordability barriers faced by people with disabilities, opportunities that broadband can present people with disabilities, and policy recommendations to address these barriers and maximize opportunities. The workshop will begin at 9:15 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. Rosaline Crawford, Director of the NAD Law and Advocacy Center, will participate on the second panel addressing “Accessibility and Affordability Barriers to Broadband and Internet Use Faced by People with Disabilities.”

This FCC workshop is a follow-up to workshop on August 20, 2009, called “Broadband Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities.” The NAD participated in that workshop and urged inclusion of people with disabilities in the development of the FCC’s National Broadband Plan.
