Sotomayor Supreme Court Confirmation Hearings

This week, the NAD is monitoring the confirmation proceedings of the United States Senate Judiciary Committee for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. The Senate confirmation hearings are an opportunity for Senators to express their views on jurisprudence and ask Judge Sotomayor questions about her ability to serve on the Supreme Court.

The Senate is widely expected to confirm Judge Sotomayor as the next Supreme Court justice. The NAD expects that, once confirmed, Judge Sotomayor will interpret the Americans with Disabilities Act and other federal disability discrimination laws in a manner consistent with their history, text, and purpose in integrating individuals with disabilities into the mainstream of American society.

For more information about Judge Sotomayor’s record with disability rights, please visit the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) website at http://www.aapd.com/Sotomayormain.html
