NAD Works with NFL to Bring ASL to the Super Bowl

The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) and the National Football League (NFL) are pleased to announce that deaf students from the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind will perform the National Anthem at both the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl this year in Miami Gardens, Florida. The NAD worked closely with the NFL to ensure that the Anthem would be signed by talented deaf persons at both bowl events.

"The NAD thanks the NFL for celebrating and recognizing the beauty and linguistic importance of American Sign Language" said NAD President Bobbie Beth Scoggins.

The Pro Bowl on January 31, 2010 and the Super Bowl on February 7, 2010 will be watched by millions. American Sign Language (ASL) is a visual language that is embraced as a legitimate language and its preservation and promotion is one of the founding principles of the NAD.
