Tell the Dept. of Education How IDEA Has Helped You

This year, the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services (OSERS) is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).  OSERS invites you to share your art work, photography, poetry and written stories about how the IDEA has helped you.

The IDEA guarantees access to a free, appropriate, public education in the least restrictive environment to every child with a disability. The IDEA requires states to provide special education and related services in schools (such as schools for deaf children), mainstream classrooms, and other settings. The IDEA has helped many people, including students, teachers, and families.

Your story about how the IDEA has helped you may be used by OSERS during a 35th anniversary celebration event.  Stories must be submitted by November 8, 2010.

For more information and to submit your story, art work, photography, or poetry, go to https://www.osep-meeting.org/idea35th/.
