Join the NAD Board for “An Evening in Paris” and More!
The NAD Board is coming to town! They will visit Capitol Hill to advocate on the importance of HR 3101 on Thursday, April 15, meet at the NAD headquarters on Friday & Saturday, April 16-17, and host “An Evening in Paris” - 2010 Spring Gala on Saturday, April 17 that includes a special tribute to Anita Farb on her retirement from the NAD. Members, supporters and the public are invited to join the board in these three activities.
Yesterday, Leah Katz-Hernandez announced a national virtual NAD Legislative Day on Thursday, April 15, in support of H.R. 3101 - the Twenty-first Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2009. Members of the NAD Board will be visiting key Congressional members and staff to explain why this bill is so important to deaf and hard of hearing individuals. Your calls, letters, faxes, and emails on the same day will help our efforts to push for the passage of this important bill. On Friday, April 16 from 9 am until 5 pm and Saturday, April 17 from 9 am until 4 pm, the NAD Board of Directors will meet at the organization's headquarters to discuss the CEO search process, policy issues of importance, progress on priorities, and preparations for the 50th Biennial NAD Conference which takes place July 6-10, 2010 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Members and the public, as always, are welcome to observe the board in action and interact with individual members during breaks.
It’s that time of the year when we welcome spring cherry blossoms in the Washington, DC area – come and mingle with the NAD Board of Directors, friends and colleagues for “An Evening in Paris” - 2010 Spring Gala on Saturday, April 17 from 6 pm to 11 pm at the beautiful Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. Your participation will benefit and sustain the NAD and its work on behalf of the American deaf community. Sheena McFeely, as event coordinator, has wonderful plans for a memorable celebration that includes cocktail hour and an elegant three-course dinner, followed by a program emceed by Jackie Roth that includes remarks by President Bobbie Beth Scoggins, a special tribute to Anita B. Farb, entertainment by Jonathan Kovacs & Company, a brief live auction, opportunity to be photographed and take prints home with you, and much more. Table reservations are available for sponsors and supporters alike. Monday, April 12 is the deadline for gala tickets and reservations. Make plans to join us for a festive evening!
