Deadline Alert! Final Call for NAD Board Candidates

The Election Committee wants to remind interested persons that the deadline for prospective candidates who wish to run for Board officer or regional representative positions is Sunday, June 6, 2010

Specifically, Article IV (Board of Directors), Section 4.08 (Candidacy Requirements) of the NAD Bylaws as amended July 2008 reads as follows:

The Election Committee shall receive completed candidacy forms, requisite background information, and proof of membership from prospective candidates for Officer and Regional Board Member positions no later than thirty (30) days prior to the biennial national conference to verify candidacy requirements. Names of official candidates shall be posted prior to the conference. If there are no prospects for a particular position, the Election Committee shall receive candidacy documents prior to the start of the Council of Representatives meeting. There shall be no nominations from the floor.

In accordance with the above, the following sentence has been removed from 2010 Election Policies and Procedures: “Any candidate who submits their candidacy during the conference must be declared and certified by the Election Committee prior to the election.”

The Election Committee will post names of official candidates for Board officer and regional representative positions on Tuesday, June 8, 2010.

If there are no prospects for a particular position, the Election Committee will accept candidacy submissions for such position/s until Monday, July 5, 2010, which is the day before the start of the Council of Representatives meeting. Again, this applies only to vacant positions for which there are no official candidates (as announced on Tuesday, June 8, 2010).
