New! NAD Delegate Website with Vlogs

The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) has created a visually oriented website to facilitate communication between delegates and their constituents during the 50th Biennial NAD Conference, July 6-10, 2010 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This website - "NAD Delegates Vlogs" – is designed to foster constructive and proactive dialogue about the NAD, issues and priority areas of focus, and the future of the NAD. Visit the new website at http://blogs.nad.org/delegates/.

For 130 years, NAD has focused on its mission to preserve, protect and promote the civil, human and linguistic rights of deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the United States of America. While we expect over 1,300 to be at this year’s biennial conference, we also know that many are unable to attend. Those who cannot attend can now become involved, through this new website! When you watch C-SPAN on cable, you can see state representatives and senators debating issues before a national audience. With this initiative you are one step closer to participating in the NAD governance process. This is transparency – the key to a successful governance process.

Delegates in Philadelphia will conduct business during the Council of Representatives on Tuesday, July 6th and Saturday, July 10th. They will also attend the General Forum on Wednesday, July 7th. They will review and vote on conference priorities for follow up action by the NAD Board of Directors, board committees, and headquarters staff. For more information about the conference, visit http://www.nad.org/philly and click on the right-hand links.

This website enables delegates to create a video (vlog) introducing themselves. Each delegate will have an opportunity to present their motion or summarize proceedings from the Council of Representatives, General Forum, and Regional/Affiliate Caucuses. Interested persons can participate virtually by reviewing delegate vlogs; they can also participate by posting video and text comments.

Come and join in the 50th Biennial NAD Conference – by participating in person and through the new NAD Delegate Vlogs website at http://blogs.nad.org/delegates/!
