Dear Conference Attendee:

The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) extends to you a warm invitation to attend the 51st Biennial NAD Conference in Louisville, KY from July 3-7, 2012. We have a lot planned for you! The theme of this year's conference is "Nothing About Us, Without Us!" Check out the schedule; find out who is going; learn about local attractions; and much more in the Learn More and Get Involved sections on the right.

For the first time, the NAD is partnering with DeaFestival Kentucky to bring you extraordinary visual and performing artists during the NAD Conference week. DeaFestival Kentucky, a one-day free event where Deaf and Hard of hearing individuals could showcase their artistic talents, will take place on Saturday, July 7. With the exception of the closing ceremony and banquet, there will be no NAD conference activities during the day on Saturday so that you can enjoy DeaFestival Kentucky.

The NAD was established in 1880 by deaf leaders who believed in the right of the American deaf community to use sign language, to congregate on issues important to them, and to have its interests represented at the national level. These beliefs remain true to this day, with American Sign Language as a core value. As a nonprofit federation, the mission of the NAD is to preserve, protect, and promote the civil, human, and linguistic rights of deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the United States of America.

If you are serious about attending NAD 51st Biennial Conference, you can't afford to miss it. You might be having trouble convincing your boss to approve your attendance at the show, so here is a sample letter you can use to justify the expense of attending the conference. You may wish to use the information below to justify and receive support from your workplace (government, nonprofit and private sectors) for coverage of 51st Biennial NAD Conference registration and travel expenses.
