Self Care & Mental Health During the COVID Pandemic

This workshop will help those of us who are on the frontlines trying to manage our personal responsibilities while helping to support and organize the deaf community during a pan-epidemic. We will review self care ideas such as:
- Mindfulness Activity
- COVID-19 Traumatic Responses
- 4 Ms of Mental Health Care
- How to Take Care of Our Selves
Hoping you will discover a new way to energize yourself. So that you can continue, as best as you can, to provide leadership during this difficult time. We hope you will come away with one goal to improve your self care.

ConniePucci
Dr. Connie Pucci is the BA Field Program Assistant and a Lecturer in the Social Work program at Gallaudet University. She holds a PhD in Special Education Administration at Gallaudet University, MSW from New York University, and BSSW from Rochester Institute of Technology. Dr. Pucci also is currently providing clinical therapy services for Deaf REACH and National Deaf Therapy. Her interests focus on strengthening professional ethics in social work practice, advocating for quality service for DeafBlind individuals, and practicing self-love and self-care.

Lynda Myers
Lynda Rae Myers, Ph.D., MSW, LCSW-C, - Clinical Social Work Institute of Washington DC. is the third generation of Deaf/hard of hearing in her family. She is a Chicago native now living in Takoma Park, Maryland. She has served as a social worker based in community social service agencies for over thirty years primarily serving the Deaf, hard of hearing and late deaf, Coda and DeafBlind communities and their families.
As a parent of a deaf child she was also a developer of the Chicagoland Deaf Parent to Parent Project where deaf parents mentored hearing parents of deaf children applying current research to help parents understand and adapt to the unique needs of their deaf children. They provided Psycho- social workshops city wide for hearing parents of deaf children led by deaf parents of deaf and hard of hearing children and professionals. She served as Chair of both the Illinois Alliance for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Chairman of the Governor’s commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for the State of Illinois. She currently consults with the National Association of the Deaf. She is also a member of the CSWE task force for the Curricular Guide for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and Developmental Neuroscience. She is an Assistant Professor at Gallaudet University teaching policy and practice courses and acts as a seminar instructor and liaison for field internships.
