Public Relations/Marketing Contractor – Request for Proposals

The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) seeks a creative and dynamic proposal from individuals with savvy public relations, marketing, and social media skills for a contract effective April 1, 2012 to April 1, 2013.

The selected contractor will be responsible for assisting with the public relations, marketing, and social media of the Association. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: updating content on the Association’s official website; handling the Association’s official Facebook and Twitter accounts; coordinating and creating promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, and advertisements; producing annual reports; and creating and editing online advertisements and videos promoting the NAD.

Other key duties include the following: ensure follow through on projects from concept through completion with heavy input from staff members; collaborate with volunteer writers, web programmers, artists and designers; assist staff with questions and requests regarding public relations and marketing strategies; ensure that marketing materials are consistent with the Association’s mission.

The ideal contractor must be a self-starter with a high level of creativity and initiative. This person must possess a thorough understanding of public relations, marketing, and social media principles. We are looking for a team player with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects in an intense deadline-driven environment. The candidate must be highly organized, with a demonstrated willingness to acquire and continually update on technology and skills. Strong writing skills in English are required.

Fluency in ASL and general knowledge of deaf culture and heritage is required. Performance of duties at the NAD office in Silver Spring, MD is preferred.
