Interested applicants must be:
- Deaf or hard of hearing;
- 18 – 30 years old;
- A U.S. citizen;
- Passionate about addressing social issues* affecting the deaf community;
- Supported by a sponsor organization** of your choice; and
- Able to commit to two years of service as a NAD Youth Ambassador upon winning the competition.
*Social issues – any problem that is any issue that directly or indirectly affects people of the deaf and hard of hearing community. These problems or controversies may be related to but is not limited to the following issues: moral, economic, communication, health and well-being, political, educational, and so forth.
**Sponsor organization – an affiliate of the NAD – may include state associations, diverse/minority organizations, non-profit organizations (local, regional, national) and the like. As for non-affiliates, they are welcome to register as affiliates in order to achieve eligibility.
